They stood at King's Cross. Like drowned rats. Hungry, too. Who they were waiting for, they didn't know. But they stood there through hours of cold. Trains went past and hoards of people went by, pulling their carts and hugging their coats, but the six children didn't flinch.
"He was never late, not once."
Sebastian's jaw clenched, he tried keeping his voice levelled. "He's not coming back, Yulin."
Ivory and Isaac were silently watching the pair. The latter slightly more apprehensive. Ive's teeth chattered and she involuntarily tightened her hold on Ise's hand, jerking him back from Seb-land. Theodore and Edmund held each other close in the corner, the silent spectators, and who was supporting who was still unclear. It was starting to drizzle again, though the conspiratorial British weather had hardly to do with their thinning patience.
"Ed, think we should head back, yes?" Eddie nodded mutely at Teddy.
"Hey, Seb? Mate, it's getting dark. Think Yu can wait another day for her brother who's six feet under?"
