I walked through the abandoned hallways of my personal hell. At this time everyone was huddled in the cafeteria eating pizza slices and gossiping about the latest rumors in school. Ah, lunch break, the time where I can relax and be by myself.
I sat in the library munching on my BLT sandwich in the corner of the room.
"What's up with all the sayings man?" A deep gruff voice questioned from above me. I looked up to see the most dazzling emerald eyes.
"Huh?" What is he doing here? And what is he talking about?
"The shirts" he tilted his head. "What's up with all the sayings?"
I unconsciously looked down at my shirt. Oh...
"Um,well, uh..." I looked up at him, intimidated by his big muscular build. He looked at me with patient eyes, waiting.
I averted his gaze. "Its from books." I murmured..
"Sweet!" He pulled the chair out from next to me and sat down.

"I think I'm gay." I say, leaving out the part about my... exposing dream about him last night. I watched his expression, waiting for some sign that he was angry. I waited for him to call me a faggot, to curse me off and tell me he never wanted to see me again. Instead, I was greeted with his perfect toothy smile. "That's great man, I'm of proud you." I spit out words, scared for his reaction. He sighs, "That doesn't fucking mean I hate gays. Normally when I do that it's because someone's using the word 'gay' to hate on them, it just pisses me off, you know?" He asks, bringing the crackers back into his lap and biting into them. "Plus-" He adds on, "You're my best friend, if anything, you being gay is a blessing. I'll always support you." He says, glancing at me through the side of his eyes. I look away, towards the door to hide the crimson blush that I feel spread over my face. "Thanks." I all but squeak out. Octaveus was depressed. He knew it, but no one else did. He hid it, just as he hid his scars. He wasn't human either; he hid that too. He hid almost everything about himself from everyone, in order to minimize the ridicule. His mental state, his thoughts, his scars, even his questionable sexuality. But that only fed into his sadness. Drew was insecure. He didn't like standing up for himself in fear of saying something wrong. He didn't even change in the main locker room for PE, he went in the stalls. He was anxious. He wanted to know what was happening and when so that he can prepare for all possible outcomes of that event. And he was gay; his family knew and supported him, but no one else knew. He was too scared of how they would react to tell them. Jessie knew his brother would be teased. It was really a fact. Humanity wasn't too good at accepting of different beings. No matter how human Octaveus made himself look, he couldn't hide his unnaturally pale skin that no matter how hard he tried would not tan or his yellow cat eyes. He just had to try to fit in, same as the rest of their family. Seth was the school bad boy, and secret werewolf. His hobbies included pushing around the Freshman, flirting relentlessly with any and every attractive popular girl in sight, and trying not to think about Octaveus.
