Dan is an Internet junkie, he collects parts of computer/technology equipment from the dumpster (cyberpunk-ish world). One day, he stumbled upon a broken computer which he puts back together at home, that's where Phil.exe came back to life. It helps Dan overcome many struggles but there is always a price to pay. Phil.exe needs a physical body so Dan plugs it into himself and allows it to use his own body temporally as they both find for a solution.
