When she moved to Russia to teach English, Jane Schumacher hoped for adventure. But she didn't expect to be caught up in terrorism and international financial intrigue. 
Jane is starting to fall for one of her students, an older militia detective named Pavel Abramovitz, when her Russian roommate Maria is found dead.
Then Jane herself is kidnapped by Chechens and held for ransom. It is only the relationship she builds with Fatima, one of the kidnappers, that offers her any hope.
