Waking up on the first day of summer, I expected to just laze around and eat all day. I did not expect to be thrown into a different world full of magic and dangers with my best friend and little sister. Looking for a way back home, we become untangled in a plot to overthrow a mad ruler across the blackened sea with a mysterious woman who looks almost human except for her unnatural glowing eyes. The way home is through miles of waves, warriors, and woe. But is has to be done. To protect my family, my friends, and the people of the vast Shatis Empire.

Where there's a will there's a way, and then there's Rem. A girl who lost it all after writing a book. Her writing style persuaded different groups to think and believe different things about her beliefs. The odd way her words touched the nation brought unity, which in turn made her the most revered woman in the United States. So much so that people sought her out to be the leader of the rebellion. Just shy of her twenty-first birthday, the once crazy college student leads a group of rebels through dangerous territory in an effort to escape to safer ground, only to face mountains of hardship in between. As the rebellion turns to full civil war, Rem tries her best to hold onto the last possession of her past life that she has, while juggling the relationships she builds on her journey. War changes every participant, and that's no exception for the Rebel princess.
