Not sure about the rest of you Hunger Games fans, but I feel that both the movie and the book Mockingjay (last book to The Hunger Games) was really rushed. One second, Peeta and Katniss are just finding their friendship beneath the layers of pain Snow bestowed apon them, and the next minute - BAM! - Katniss has two kids with Peeta.
This is not an alternate ending to the story/book. It is merely an extension of time between Peeta coming back home to District 12, and when they have their kids. Just to drop you a hint, this extension-ending will also include Gale coming home, President Paylor dropping by, and also...Katniss' mother coming home to have a ceremony for Prim and final good byes.

For this fic to be plausible, we need to assume: Katniss is 'selfish' enough to choose her own safety over that of other people (which she isn't because she's awesome). Gale doesn't know about the uprising in 8. Peeta tried to get his family to come too but only got his brother to agree, and he is okay with this. Haymitch doesn't do anything to stop them. President Snow has not electrified the fence (but let's assume he did electrify it that one time) and has no cameras in the woods. So if we can accept all of this, let's do it!
