Burning flesh and rotting souls fill the entire room around the fallen angels; however, an angel is an angel no matter what. They were taught to see the beauty within others and to try and save the souls of the lost. Those fallen angels find beauty in the fire they live in, find the beauty behind the burning flesh, and find the beauty behind the rotting souls to where they come accustomed to it. To where they themselves want to try and save what has been lost, not knowing it is them that are the one lost.
For one cannot help another if they cannot save themselves first.
That's the one lesson that Sariel, the angel of guidance, couldn't quite understand. Being one of the first ever fallen angels there was no lesson book on how to save those who have been lost when they are lost themselves. Every year a new fallen angel would join him and he would try his best to find what they have done and try to save their lost soul in order to cover the sins he has committed. What he didn't know is they end up worse off when he gets his hands on them.
With the heart of willing, but the minding of cowering he doesn't know the difference between saving a soul and killing one completely. So when he was watching the outside world within the clear walls of his glass ball seeing the newest fallen angel stuck in limbo he was determined to save this one. Not knowing that this would be his most difficult task yet, for being able to guide another is to keep all personal feelings aside.
To fall in love with their project is a way of blurring the lines between helping and hurting for their own selfish reasons.
Afriel, the angel of youth, is the newest fallen angel who is now stuck on the earth with none of her power is the one person who will make Sariel choose a fate worse than death.

In order to receive my entrance I was ordered to keep her safe and out of trouble, but Aspen is no ordinary girl. She tests my nerves to no end and does so purposefully now that she is aware of me. It happened so fast the night she saw me I'd hope she would think I was a figment of her imagination, but no such luck. She wouldn't stop pushing the limits until I showed myself again.
