"Does anyone else find it unrealistic that his name is Joe Smith?" Haley deadpanned. She didn't even look up from the nail file she was using on her pale pink nails. "What kind of boring ass name is Joe Smith? Might as well be John Doe."

The "adults" in the room ignored her comment, but her "sister" Michelle elbowed her and nodded.

"Good point," she whispered quietly into her ear.

The Smiths are far from your average family. They're part of a marketing experiment. A fake family who's job it is to subtly advertise products as well as possible and market them to a neighbors, friends, and anyone else who consumes goods on the basis of trying to seem successful to people who don't really care in our modern consumer culture.

Not surprisingly, Denise, Joe, and their three children are failing to increase sales by a desirable amount right before the holiday season. So in a last ditch attempt to keep their jobs they plan a Thanksgiving dinner for all of their friends, family, and neighbors.

The only kink in the plan? None of them knows anything about cooking a Thanksgiving dinner, and what a traditional Thanksgiving is supposed to be like, even if most of it comes from the frozen section of the grocery store.

A short based off of the Movie the Joneses (the only reason to ever watch that movie is Benjamin Holllingsworth) for @Hannahsue-- 's Dinner with the Family contest.

"Yes, you must learn to be patient Aury." Her father states. The little brunette starts to slow down. She now walks a normal pace between her parents. "I'm sorry mom and dad, I'm just excited. Its been a whole year." The girl explains, Her mom snickers. "We understand sweetie, but it just finished turning anyway. Its only the 3rd of October." Her father also explains. "Otherwise known as my birthday!" She exclaims. Her mother and father giggle. "Look, there it is!" Her mother points to a big Sugar Maple Tree with leaves colored with vibrant yellow, burnt orange and strawberry red. The girl's hazel eyes fill with excitement, she jumps up and down and runs to the big tree. "It's as pretty as ever!" The little girl says happily. The child hugs the tree while her parents smile. They walk up to her and kneel down to her height. "I know we've been coming to this tree for 4 years now Aury, but you know if you ever feel sad especially during the fall, you can always hang out under this tree." Her mother says, the little girl smiles. ♡♡♡ Aurelia Jones and her parents go to that tree every fall for her birthday since she was six. That very tree is only one of the many reasons she loves fall. She doesn't have many friends so she doesn't care about birthday parties. Her mom and dad always adored her imagination, when they told her about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and everyone else, she believed it immediately, always had and probably always will. *Another Jack Frost x reader! I don't own any of the characters except Aury and Saige!*

Her father left. The perfect house in the perfect neighborhood. Claire needed her father. Her mother works hard, but hard to keep the neighbors impressed. Then, her dad runs away to be a rock band roadie. Her 4.5 AP Nerdfest brother is accused of raping and murdering a girl with Special Needs. And when she and her best friend go on a runaway road trip--they end up in a truck with sex traders. Claire's world spins out of control--until it doesn't. It is 2008 and In 2008 the whole world changed. And not just because the iphone came out in 2007. It wasn't just the families of the OC Housewives that were living a reality show; so many families seemed to be all about "the house" and not "the home." Sunglasses cost hundreds of dollars and "bags" were thousands. Everything had a label that said you spent a lot of money. People went crazy buying another house, a boat, a Hummer (at 10 miles to the gallon). I distinctly remember two couples, in their late 30s, who were shopping together in Toys R Us. They had a video camera and were discussing the "rules" to this shopping trip. The rules were they had to look into the camera and say what they were buying, for who and why. And the carts had to be overflowing with toys. It was as if they had dreamed their entire lives of doing a "who cares how much it costs" shopping spree at Toys R Us for their children. Just recklessly spending on a bunch of STUFF. That was 2007. And then came 2008. But, more disturbing to me, was the impact it had on families. I think moms and dads lost themselves in providing stuff for their kids and not giving their kids time. And I saw the kids suffer because of it. So, I did a little research and a lot of observing and I wrote a mostly fictional story about an upper-middle class family in the OC. It explores (it simple terms) what was going on in the economy and what teenagers really want from their parents...

"This relationship has everything..." Stefon is finally coming out to his family, officially this time. He has sat down every important person in his life to give them the news. His brother and cousin pretty much have it all figured out, but his parents and his aunt and uncle are firm on their belief that he's just been going through a phase. As he tries to get through his anxiety to get them to meet his boyfriend, things start going south. Never has he been shy about his sexuality, but how is he supposed to convince his family it isn't a phase if he can't even get them to talk to him properly? The characters in this story are based loosely on Bobby Moynihan's theory about the Weekend Update family, as well as throwing other things around that make sense revolving that. The family Stefon lives with: Drunk Uncle - Stefon's Uncle (Going by Uncle Bobby since he was never given a name) Aunt Linda - Stefon's Aunt The Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started A Conversation With At A Party - Stefon's Cousin (Going by Cecily since she wasn't given a name either) Bar Mitzvah boy Jacob - Neighbor These are the characters *based on* Bobby's theory. Now for the others, named by Stefon himself: David Zolefsky - Stefon's Brother Ms. Stefon - Stefon's Mother David Bowie - Stefon's Father Based on the information Stefon gives us, he also has a son (he is presumably an absent father) and a dog, Bark Ruffalo. And Shy as a last second decision because who needs dramaless stories
