Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. My Confessional
Writing a memoir at only fifteen years old has taught me a lot. Giving me the time to reflect on the lessons I learned the hard way and the mistakes I've made thus far. I learned, if there is at least two sides to every story, there is at least two sides to every person. What could be a smile is a broken heart in a deeper reality. We all live in a society where nothing is as it seems, the people being more complex and astonishing than the countless novels we read. And in a world ruled by tragedies, we are the survivors. Getting through our own history, more important to us then what we read in school. We take our story one page at a time, word by word because in the end, it will all be worth it. I dedicate this memoir to the people who have been with me on my journey of self discovery, even if only in spirit. Mom- Who has made non stop sacrifices to ensure my happiness and well being. Nothing would be possible without you! Grandma- Who has inspired me and made a huge influence to the person I am now and who I'll be in the future.
