A prison built into the future where the planet has been dead for thousands of years, an undercover cop is made by the gang he infiltrated, scientists who try to build the ultimate spaceship in order to save humanity, all of these and more to come are part of this short story collection.
I bit off a lot when I tackled Art of Destruction and recently started the sequel "The Spire" and am having a hard time. So, instead of setting down my pen and paper and giving up, I've decided to try something new; short stories. I'm not going to be pounding these out by any means but it's helped me stay in writing without giving me block.
Some short stories will last more than one chapter others may only be one shots.

The faint glow within them swirls softly, catching the dim flicker of flame I summoned, like ripples across a moonlit lake. Their alien intensity sends a chill down my spine. Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. "Strip. Now!" I aimed my weapon at him with a glare. Upon a passing light, I was granted a clearer view. Intense green eyes were on me, clenched jaw on a keen guard, and a visible scar at the curve of his left cheek. The idle look aired fearless against my warning, forcing my wary to hyperdrive. The sound of rustling ceased my staring. I watched him moving in largo. "Hurry up!" With a lopsided smirk, he started unbuttoning his coat, eyes boring holes on me. "What are you? An android rapist?" He let out with indifferent. "Shut it!" I yelled, trailing my eyes lower. "The pants too." *** Eve had volunteered for an assignment to meet the future. She was put into cryogenic sleep, expected to witness a greener and wiser world. But when she wake, she found herself at a dump, naked and cold. The air was thick with pollution, and malice at sight. After escaping from danger, she held the next person she met at gunpoint; a mysterious, handsome hybrid. Unbeknownst to Eve, Earth was no longer what she once knew. She soon learnt the truth behind the assignment. Left with no other option, she put her trust on Kael to fulfil her mission. But she's not the only one, there are nine others supposed to be besides her; two of which never made it past their mother's womb and one who's incompatible. What makes them special, is also what makes them dangerous. Ripped from their normal, day-to-day,school life, family and friends with no warning, they find out who they are. And why they're alive. But fitting back into that normal life they missed so much is proving to be hard. Especially for Maya, who has a tendency to get herself in trouble and extraordinary situations ENTIRELY her fault. (She'd rather die than admit that of course) Old life brings the problem of boys, unwanted advances, homework, teachers and of course, a boyfriend with she had a rather uncharacteristic meet-up. Scott, Sed, Andy are her childhood friends all the way with her in this. Almost all the way. They didn't expect her to change or to come back at all and they are having a HARD time adjusting to the new Maya. She's dangerous, she's hot and she knows it. She has done a lot in the past two years that will catch up to her and stuff after that which refuses to stay hidden. Controlling CEOs, sensitive boyfriend, an obssessed boss is just the tip of the iceberg. And I'm not even touching the problems at her school. Will all this unwanted attention put her in trouble? It's so lonely here on this big romantic island, in this alien moon colony that I own. With my wife away all week, and my job as an Overlord stressing me out, there's just no time for romance. Fortunately I'm a hive-mind and my former body was male, and HOT. Wouldn't hurt anything to just...have a drink with my cloned self. Passions unfold in this totally dead serious and not at all blatantly satirical story, of sarcastic romance and self-love, where me and other me with a beard, split hairs on the definitions of what having "an affair" even means. Is it even cheating if it's you on you? Maybe, but what our cloned wife doesn't know, won't hurt them. An affair turns to a coverup, and a series of murders to bury the situation. Every step closer to myself, takes me closer to a prison sentence, as things become harder to hide, and suspicious turn to theories.
