Jaye Plorowski's life has always been normal. She lived in a middle class family in the sub-urbs of a major city, she has her close friends, she has her hobbies, which include writing music, playing her guitar, and writing, she was a B+ student, all average marks. Nothing in peculiar was different about Jaye, and she didn't mind one bit.
As a gift for her seventeetnth birthday, Jaye's parents send her on a trip to Jamaica with her best friend, Kaitlin. They sat on the flight, talking about the cute guys seated next to them, when the plane plummeted into a small island in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.

When Rose asks if her best friend Lola can come with on the plane Nathan doesn't know what to do. He says okay, he knows they both will die. He gives it away in a few chapters of his own in part one of the book. Well Rose survives the plane crash. And it broken from it, one day a year later Nathan find Rose. And tell her everything, she is horrified, she hates him. Her love for him goes away. As the book goes on she finds forgiveness. At the end they do end up together.
