Rain began to pour from the sky as I sprinted. My lungs burned as if they were on fire. My legs were made of jelly, threatening to give out. Exhaustion was an understatement of how I felt but the adrenaline fueling screams behind me were the only thing keeping me going. "Almost there...." I thought to myself. Just a few more turns and I would be safe. At least from them. The screams behind me were closer and I could almost feel their sticky, hot breath on my neck. Fear nearly consumed me fully as I felt a hand wrap around my arm, pulling me to the ground. I locked eyes with bright red ones and screamed. The nasty rotting teeth came down to clamp around around my neck but before that happened, a bullet pierced the monsters head, killing it.

I stood there leaning against the door for a second. Then screams reached my ear. I looked to where it came from and saw a girl at the other end of the hall laying on the ground with a gaping hole in her stomach. Three other students had ripped away at the girl's insides and were chewing it up. One paused for a second and looked up at me. He stood up and I panicked. I knew him. He was in my chorus class. August was his name. He had blond, curly hair, blue eyes, and was probably the tallest person in the entire school. August opened his now bloody mouth and let out a screech that sent chills down my spine. He leaped over the other two cannibals and the now dead girl and broke into a sprint. As soon as he leaped I had also started running. I made it out of the 300 hall and hid behind the vending machine that stood at the entrance of the hall. Seconds later, August was standing just inches from me. He looked around and I stayed as quiet and still as I possibly could. I didn't even breathe. After what seemed like years of waiting, August turned back toward the dead girl and walked out if sight. I stayed where I was for a little bit longer until my lungs demanded I start breathing again. Directly in front of me was the library and cafeteria. To the right of the cafeteria was the auditorium and the music hall. "If I could just make it to the chorus room maybe I'll find some of my friends," I thought to myself. I was about to take my first step when I looked down at my shoes. They were brand new and when I walked, they squeaked. I took my shoes off as quietly as I could. I had my Captain America socks on and I knew I'd have to take those off as well. I just couldn't risk slipping. Once my feet were bare I took off in a quiet sprint towards the music hall. How awesome is that cover though!? Lol my dad made it.
