When a 14 year old girl named Isla gets diagniosed with an incurable, recently developed, polio, she goes to the capitol  to get a brain transplant, one in which her mind will be introduced into another body. Alone in the confinements of the capitol's hospital complex, with her mother in jail, and abandoned by her father, Isla informs the reader of the struggle in her mind.
