Nearly fifty years after the third world war, most countries have disbanded their militaries for more domestic law enforcement. While militaries may be mostly gone, terrorism and crime haven't stopped. Thus, the IDA was founded.

The international detective agency has existed for almost forty years now, recruiting only the best one percent of the top one percent of intelligent students around the world. These students are trained to see truth behind the lies blanketing the world and use their knowledge to protect the people they serve.

Even with the smartest people in the world dedicating themselves to fighting crime, violence doesn't stop. It has gone down, but something darker is surfacing. Criminals don't lose their urges, even if it becomes outweighed by fear, and there's someone out there who knows this. They plan to use this to their advantage. The IDA may fall in consequence, but if the IDA falls, so does everyone else.

Crime doesn't stop for law enforcement. It waits.All Rights Reserved

They're closest equivalent in a fandom would be like lesser cousins to the Q. In this AU, Humanity knows about Kit. They don't deify her. To them, Kit's presence is normal, tangible, and real. He paid more attention to people now. Little did he know that this little difference would kill him the next time he encountered another alien about to return home. It would tear him apart, cell by cell, until he was unmade. His mind being transported away. --- So distantly far away there is a race that advanced to the point where they built dyson spheres to house their civilizations. In their continual expansion, they seeded galaxies with pods and connection satellites. Over time they upgraded their dyson spheres into matryoshka brain Cores. Imagine a computer powered by a star. Citizens of Cores no longer age once they upload their minds into the virtual living system of the Core. While they didn't age, most still choose to cycle through life and death though at a different scale of time compared to our lives. Citizens can visit other planets and live there as if they were on a "vacation". Mercury is Earth's hub connected to the closest Core and Earth is a remote vacation spot for wealthy citizens. When the main character was 10 he witnessed a citizen returning to the Core. The story continues 10 odd years later when he again witnesses a similar situation unfolding and manages to touch the person returning to the Core. This causes him to be swept up in the transfer as well and for his mind to join as a "Guest" user of the Core. As a Guest he has limited powers, a starting balance of zero cr or Citizen credits, and no idea how he can get home. He is the first human to ever become a Guest of a Core. Where money itself is the highest form of their science.

It's been five years since the events of the Spencer mansion, not to mention the catastrophe of Raccoon city. A ton can change in five years, especially after something like that. Seeing what companies and people with power can do, makes you think everyone would choose to find justice and take them down, but not everyone is morphed into that. There aren't very many sides to take in the scenario, it was a choice of good or bad. Except there was the middle ground, people who do both good and bad, but can't be considered either. Emmett Blaine was one of those people, an ex-sniping and stealth expert of the S.T.A.R.S Alpha team turned to the side after a nasty experience with both people and events. He became a mercenary, one who'd do just about anything for money. But what would he do once he's hired for a new job? Not just any job, he'd be working for the very man who betrayed him five years ago. He'd been running from his past for so long, but now, his past is catching up to him and he's forced to face it once more. Note: In this story, the B.S.A.A was founded in the early 2000 rather than 2003. I don't change very many things lore wise, so please don't be too angry or confused. Also this is NOT primarily a romance, there are bits and pieces but it focuses mainly on the story aspect.
