Oliver found a giant pile of letters when he got home from school today on his desk. 
"Mom, where did all of these letters come from?"
"Oh, your friend...uh...what was his name?Uhh....wasn't it...Carmen?"
Oliver's eyes widened in disbelief. His friend Carmen had disappeared 4 years ago. Before he disappeared he started talking about a creature with no face in the woods. The police started a search the day after he went missing, but they cancelled it an hour later for..."reasons".
"Mom...Carmen went missing 4 years ago..."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah."
"Oh.I'm so sorry..."
"It's fine."
Oliver grabbed all the letters and quickly headed upstairs. He flopped onto his bed and grabbed a letter and started to read it.All Rights Reserved

This is a series of short stories inspired by a friend. After buying a new house his mom found a letter (random scribbling?) left behind in a back closet. The scrap of folded paper had warnings about demons that lived in the walls and forced him to sell his house. Needless to say it was an unsettling discovery. Pair that with my own personal experience of buying a house sight unseen and moving (literally) halfway across the country in the middle of a pandemic I had enough material to put together a short collection of stories. Each story opens with an item discovered in a house followed by either the origin of the item or the discovery of the item. All focus around the experience of someone moving. I write these for fun (there are more coming, just editing at the moment) and my own entertainment during the time of social distancing. I hope you find something relatable or at the very least gets you thinking. Enjoy! PS - Although I would not consider this overly graphic there are some more mature scenes and use of adult language.

After her mother passed away a week later, MC returned to her home and left the hectic city life. She discovered an old hand phone inside her mother's desk while cleaning the house, but it was empty. She was suddenly interrupted by a call on that hand phone. Thomas asked her if she knew where Hannah, his girlfriend, was since he had gotten a message from her with a phone number. She has been joined to a group chat with Hannah's friends and family while she is still perplexed. After all the commotion from the group chat, a hacker by the name of Jake got in touch with her. He asks for MC's assistance in finding Hannah, and MC must comply because she has no other option. The more information the MC learned about Hannah and the others while looking for clues, Jake and MC thought one of Hannah's friends was responsible for Hannah's disappearance. Then, MC learned about the man without a face, legendary Duskwood creature; he leaves a raven's mark on the doors of the worst sinners. Each year, on the night of the first new moon, he returns to the houses he has marked, drags anybody inside-guilty or not-out into the forest, never to be seen again. MC initially refused to believe in paranormal phenomena, but as time went on, inexplicable catastrophes began to occur. The faceless individual attacked Jessy, threatened Cleo's mother in a letter, and painted a red raven symbol on Richy's garage. Jake and MC continue their investigation into Hannah's disappearance because it appears that no harm has been done until Richy was attacked by the man without a face in the woods and was bleeding. What will MC do after that? Various scratches were displayed across the glass, forming words. It looked as if claws had written the words in the mirror. "Deepest apologies, but it was fun." Scientist's experiments had gone wrong. They call them the "Stone Devils". They were escaping from the labs and into our world. Made of stone and all male. Winged creatures that come into the night. Steal and kill their prey. That's what she heard but she didn't believe it until a few nights ago. (kinda like the movie Warm Bodies)

He gets a phone call from his youngest daugther on the way home from school. She tell him she'll take the way through the forest, but promise to be careful. They say goodbye and hung up. But she never comes home. Adam report her missing. He gets another call later in the night from his husband. He tells me that Emily is in the hospital. She was found unconscious in the woods by the police. Luke says she has horrible nightmares about a man without a face. Adam and Vanessa quickly go to the hospital to be by her side. Three days later, Emily is allowed to return home. But she's not the same again. She has still nightmares and she see things that nobody else see. Adam and Luke are very worried about her. When Emily is accused of stabbing her classmate, they know they have to help her.
