Maria is officially 16. That's supposed to be great, but things are different for females of her kind. The Novas: deceased, now reborn females with no memory of their past life that have been recreated and given Goddess like powers. At age 16, they must find a partner, either werewolf, vampire, or demon, to become more powerful, or wither into stardust shortly after their birthday. Maria is stubborn, and does not want to have a partner. Someone, maybe even more than one person, has their eye set on her. Especially Vincent, the king of vampires, and Maria happens to not like him. When the government learns that one of their failed experiments, named Eve, is plotting to avenge her sister Ivy's death by killing every single Nova, Maria has been scouted and goes to the high school she may supposedly be attending. Although, she has no clue on what the villain may be like. At school, she learns more about having friends and soon enough, more about dangerous secrets the government is keeping from her. In the end, she may question whether or not she still wants to be the government's little rat.

She could be way more powerful without certain restrictions from them, but at what cost?

It started as a darker version of Twilight, but I was influenced strongly by Underworld, Teen Wolf, Bitten, Vampire Diaries, and The Secret Circle. As the first of likely three novels, this is complete (but I will probably edit a hundred more times lol) and I am currently working on the second one! The Photo I used for the cover was taken by Fogbreath in 2007. I was unable to find the photographer to ask if I could use the photo, but at least it had their name on it and I can give them credit.

After a mysterious man begins to befriend her while working at her job, a night of sex turns into the start of everything she thought she could handle into a whirlwind of challenges. It's easy to kill a person in the movies or in a book because it's fiction. But actually suck the life out of a living being and it be her new reality, that's a whole different ballgame. Nadine Burns must now learn to face being a Newborn vampire in a world where there is no kindhearted feelings and sunshine and rainbows. To top it all, she was turned by one of the most powerful vampire leaders in her city and must also learn how to parade around in vampire politics.
