There are days where I wake up and just stare at the alarm clock from my bed until the beeper stops itself, because I'm that reluctant to start my day. Even the incessant, shrilly sirening is more pleasant than what I know the day has to offer. Today more than ever, I attempt to hold onto my dreamy state knowing nothing good will come out of a day like today. Eventually though, due to the fact that I've managed to go 17 years without being late for anything (except on sick days), I convince myself that I'll make it through the eight hours that promise to be both arduous and torturous and I drag myself out of sleep.

Usually half of what keeps me in bed is that my dreams are so much more pleasant and promising than my reality.

My name is Aurelius Ireland Taylor. Did I mention I'm a girl? You'd think my parents would have some sort of semblance of mercy but no, that is my true blue name.

--

Aurelius hasn't always had the best luck in life, but she was used to it. Now, after moving to a new town, she catches the attention of the kind of people she has never interested before: the populars. For the first time Aurelius - Rel for short - finally has the chance to really enjoy life, but how long can her good fortune last?
