Maud is whisked off to Fallorland, a vibrant land with creatures of all shapes, sizes, and colours. There, she meets a friendly Fallow named Saffron Yellow. When Maud learns that Saffron's beloved antlers were stolen by some Shadows, creatures that rule and wreak havoc in the Blacklands which lie under Fallorland, Maud promises him to find them with him. On their journey, they meet Three, a Bibelot who wants nothing but his confidence and happiness. The three of them set off to the Blacklands to find Saffron's antlers and Three's happiness. They quickly discover however that this quest, and Maud's presence, is inseparably tied to Madow, the Shadow King of the Blacklands, and that Maud cannot leave Fallorland without facing him first.

Two girls going to Ensorcell school of magic learn to navigate the world together. They have to deal with accusations of theft and are forced solve a mystery. They will have to try to survive more than just their bully. "Flyers," Ms. Puffins voice boomed "leave the area, but do not come down. Fly to the school immediately." Confused, all the flyers approached the border slowly. They're high up in the air and slowly peeked their heads outside. Everyone is screaming and running, the chairs are turned over and smashed along with the binoculars. The students saw pterodactyl like creatures running around. They were reptiles with red eyes, short arms, and long swishing tails. They are only slightly taller than a 7-year-old child, but much stronger. They picked up chairs and smashing them. Teachers ran out of the school to help while students were running towards the school. Parents of the flyers hung back to make sure their kids are ok. All 40 or so flyers flew towards the school as fast as they could. They tried to fly near their parents but were all ordered to get to the school immediately.Complete

His grandmother, who happens to be an enchantress herself, comes visiting from whom Damian begins to learn simple magic tricks.
