"Why can't we catch a break?" My voice is broken, and hardly recognizable. I feel as if I've reverted back to the way I once was. Guarded, scared and... depressed.

Lucas holds me in his lap, though he isn't openly crying like myself, I can feel his shoulders shake as he continues to rub absentminded circles into my back. His heart pounds against his chest, and if I didn't know any better I'd assume it would break free. "It's okay. It's okay sweetheart." His warm, wet lips press against my temple, and again I fall into silence.
