"The weird thing is...love isn't what we thought, but it's what we needed." • 19 year old Opal Bradly is making her first big leap to becoming independent and decides to move away with her best friend Jenny. With her aspirations to be an artist and the small savings she has, she sets out to a place that makes and breaks dreams, New York. Leaving her Dad and her best friend Weston behind, she's starting to regret ever moving in the first place, until she meets Aaron Matthews. He's cocky, flirtatious and has an ego the size of a semi-truck. Unluckily for Opal, she seems to run into Aaron on more than one occasion, and now he's curious. Opal wants nothing to do with him, in fact, she despises him, which only makes him want her more. Now, Aaron is determined to figure out the secrets that lie behind the walls Opal has built, but is he really to be trusted? Opal expected things to be hard, she expected struggles, she expected the drama.....but she never thought to expect love.

She puts on a mask that portrays that she's happy and everything is fine. But that's just it, everything is "fine". She's lived her life in fear, no wonder that's her middle name. You could put a gun to her head and she would close her eyes and say, "finally." In his twisted mind, everyone makes themselves out to be something their not. Everyone is hiding something. Memories haunt him at night as well as his mother's screams as he stays awake. Their damaged kids in a damaged world. She's broken. He's bent.
