Mackenzie Adams is a 17-year-old apathetic girl, even though she doesn't know it. Abandoned by her parents at a young age, Mackenzie moves into live with her godmother. Since young she has never felt happy, hurt, regret, angry, scared, sad, and most of all in love. With managing the abandonment of her parents and staying on her feet, Mackenzie never got to learn the feelings every child should know. This leaves her dull, logical, and confused; not what a little girl should be. Home schooled most of her life by teaching herself, Mackenzie's guardian  allows her to go to Sparrowford High School where she meets Levi Young. As a real cheerful and very known person at the school, Levi takes interest in lonely Mackenzie and finds out she is not like the other girls.
