"I escaped you once. I can do it again just as easily as the first time" I rolled my eyes, busying myself by casually looking at my red painted nails.

Feeling him draw closer, I finally stood from the flower patch, turning towards the darkness. His eyes were all that I could see, and I watched them rise up, as if he were standing from a crouching position. 

He was transforming.

He stepped into the light, his boots crunching down on the dried fallen leaves.

"And I caught you once as well. And I can do it again just as easily.

The crunching of dry leaves under my feet alert me so I cast my eyes to the floor and watch as I step on each individual leaf and dry twig, enjoying the snapping sounds that echo through the near silent forest. Gnarly roots dip into ground and twisted branches reach down, fingers grasping the air, as if reaching for me and I shiver, thinking of my father. I cast my eyes up to think of something else and instantly calm as another puff of breeze rustles the leaves on the trees and ground gently. I look ahead and notice the steady thinning of the old trees and run towards it, loving the feeling of the air in my air and clothes. I spot what I think is light dancing on waters surface and sprint for it. Then I break through the trees, making it to the lake.

I locked eyes with it. Its amber gaze pierced through me, like it could smell my fear. There was something ancient in that gaze, something that stirred an unsettling feeling deep in my gut, a sensation I couldn't quite shake. Its claws scraped against the earth, long and curved, leaving deep marks in the fresh dirt as it moved closer. I could hear its paws thud against the ground, massive and deliberate, each step sending another shock of terror through me. The silence that followed was unnerving, heavy in the air, but then a loud crack shattered the stillness. It came from the forest-close, too close. The beast whipped its head back to the forest, quickly turning his whole body around so I was behind him. The shock from him turning so fast made me stumble a few feet backwards. The ground beneath us seemed to shift as it suddenly lunged forward, its muscles rippling with terrifying power. With one mighty leap, it vaulted over the rotting wooden fence, clearing the barrier effortlessly. The impact of its landing shook the earth beneath my feet. I staggered again, trying to keep my balance as I watched the creature, now free, pause on the other side of the fence. It cocked its head backwards meeting my gaze one final time. Then, without another notice, it darted into the forest, disappearing into the darkness like a shadow swallowed by night. I stood there, my body still trembling, staring at the empty space where the creature had been. The night had swallowed it whole. And though the sounds of the forest returned, soft and distant, the terror of that moment lingered. Was it still out there? Watching? Waiting? My eyes darted back and forth in the forest, trying to see it still hung around. I didn't know, but I couldn't shake the feeling that this encounter, this creature, was only the beginning. I twist the end of the red strings that tie around my neck. My red hood flying behind me, as if wings. I hear a loud creak and turn around quickly. The red eyes glow amongst the darkness. The air reeked of the smell of sulfur. I point my crossbow into the darkness. "Show yourself" I shout out calmly. "Oh, little miss Red, you are looking for Jenivive, aren't you? Well it's just me, her loyal servant" The voice echoes through the abandoned factory. Damn it! "Bastian, show yourself!" I yell, and hear the sound of someone running. I turn around to see Bastian in my face, no breathe flowed from his mouth. I immediately shoot, sending holy water into its core, and into its blood stream. It falls over and begins spazing out. "Go back to hell!" I yell and stab it with my blade. My red hood flew backwards, causing my black hair to be shown. My black boots stretched to my knees. My crystal blue eyes shown bright. My red lips perfectly placed. Many people said I was the definition of beauty.
