Even in a world filled with magic, there are some things you just can't fix. No matter how hard you try, or how much you want to and wish, it just can't be fixed.

Coughing Fever was one of those things. It was a savage illness, causing a chronic and incurable cough, a high fever, and shaking are just a few of the symptoms. Coughing Fever was one of those illnesses that not even the mighty and knowledgeable elves could cure. There were things that could alleviate the symptoms, of course, but only temporarily.

But Briar Baggins-Butcher didn't let the fact that she was plagued by this incurable illness bother her. She lived her life as best she could, hidden away by her family so she wouldn't make her illness worse, she never had many friends, but one.

Briar's best friend in the whole world was her cousin, Bilbo Baggins. He was the one person who her parents would always let her see. She adored her cousin and enjoyed spending time with him at Bag End. Bilbo was her best friend, of that she had not one single doubt.

But Bilbo had his shortcomings like all people do. His was that he never wanted to wander away for a while, he never longed for adventures.

There was nothing that Briar wanted more. She wanted to see the world, she wanted to see the farthest corners of Middle Earth. Her parents would never allow that, of course... It was too risky, with her Coughing Fever and all. She could get herself into some real problems if she were to reach a low point and there was no one to come to her aid. Just because she wasn't allowed to go didn't mean that she didn't long for it, though...

"You talk too much elf-boy," Arya muttered, her voice hoarse from all the screaming she had done due to the pain of her injuries. Legolas scrunched up his nose in disdain of the nickname, but a smile soon found his way onto his face. "I am not a boy." Her eyes opened then, and her familiar hazel eyes met his striking blue ones. A small smile made itself present on her face as she looked at him, a twinkle of mischief evident in her eyes. Born of darkness. Forged in fire. Bound by fate. Diana Vanserra is an outcast; half human, half-elf, and the last of the Nyxarian line, a bloodline feared for its shadow-wielding power. Once a princess of a hidden mountain realm, her world was shattered when Azog the Defiler slaughtered her kin under Sauron's command and enslaved her for years. Now free, she's become a deadly force of vengeance, carving her way through Middle-earth in pursuit of justice. When Gandalf witnesses her fury firsthand, he offers her a new path: join a dwarven prince named Thorin Oakenshield and a Hobbit burglar on a quest to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug. Reluctantly, Diana agrees, but from the moment she meets Thorin, the two are fire and flint. Prideful, headstrong, and unyielding, they clash at every turn. Yet as the journey grows darker and the stakes rise, so too does the bond between them, built not on trust; but on shared scars, buried pain, and a slow-burning desire that neither dares to admit. In a world at war, love is the most dangerous shadow of all. - All Rights Reserved © Cover made by yours truly x I do not own any of Tolkien's marvellous creations, characters or the original plot of The Hobbit. Just That And Nothing More

2 parts Complete

Bilba Baggins is a bit shy. Okay, she's a LOT shy and when Gandalf shows up and dumps an entire Company of dwarves on her she is decidedly NOT amused.......or capable of speaking to them.....particularly the dark haired one who happens to be a PRINCE. Thanks for that heads up, Gandalf. All she can think is Kili should have a warning sign on him. It could say something like: "Caution: Exposure to KILI could result in side effects including but not limited to - - Incoherent speech - Inability to speak at all - Increased clumsiness - Decrease in brain function In a few cases more serious side effects have been reported including, but not limited, to - - The sudden urge to run off on poorly thought out adventures - Delusions where one believes they are capable of stealing from Trolls and/or dragons In order to limit the risk of developing one or more of these side effects individuals should limit their exposure to KILI to brief bursts of staring or sidelong glances." Honestly, it'd only be fair.
