Kakashi Hatake always saw himself as a failure, and now that the Fourth Shinobi World War was over, his opinion of himself was just reinforced. Konoha was gone and Naruto Uzumaki was dying. The other Hidden Villages were next, and hope was gone. Until Naruto offers an impossible opportunity: to stop the death before it starts.

"The best laid plain o' mice and men go awry." Kakashi will learn that, no matter the righteous intentions, not all promises can be kept.
