In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line bg forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before--and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

In a dystopian future, the totalitarian nation of Panem is divided into 12 districts and the Capitol. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, rutal retribution for a past rebellion, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors while the citizens of Panem are required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. 16-year-old Aspen, Katniss' best friend, is selected as District 3's representative. Aspen, Katniss and her male counterpart, Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives.Concluida

But still battling with Trauma from the games she managed to find the light in the darkness. Finnick Odair met her from being a mentor for his own district and after she won he helped her through the trauma that he knew came with winning the games. But after Katniss and Peeta win the games and a spark is ignited among the districts and the victors are called back for another game. They knew nothing would ever be the same again.
