He was wearing a blue shirt in his profile picture. Blue was always his favorite and I had always disliked blue. My cars were blue, my grand house was painted blue. Bruise marks on my mother's forehead and elbows were blue. But despite wearing blue, he was looking good. He had gained some weight since I last saw him. His shoulders had become broader. He was smiling while leaning against his car. He has bought a car. I remember how he used to borrow a bike from his friends so we could go to movies. His car is not a high-end luxury car. It's nothing like any of the sedans my father owned. Sumer Pratap Sing Chauhan, my ex-husband, too had a blue BMW. Aman's car is not a sedan. It's a simple Indian made hatchback car.

This simplicity makes me drool for a long drive on East Coast of Chennai, playing soft jazz in the car stereo, holding his hand. A long drive which was once promised. Last night his smile made me smile. Even though he was wearing blue colour, he made me smile. He made me smile without uttering a single word. Sometimes all a broken girl needs is a smile.
