Sera Dao is on the run. When the Lanian empire finally collapsed she had found herself alone, a pirate without a crew, in the central systems of the Commonwealth. Hunted by the Rangers she must find her way to her home world of Unie in the far reaches, unfortunately only smugglers and Commonwealth cruisers go to such depths. Which leaves her only one choice. Captain Blais Unton has a reputation in the central systems as one of the best smugglers this side of the galaxy. However when Sera agrees to pay his exorbitant fee for transport to Unie she doesn't expect to be drawn into his rag tag crew of homeless interlopers, genetic experiments gone wrong, assassins, and a particularly dangerous stowaway Blais refuses to kick off his ship because he's in love with him. And through all this a civil war is brewing on the horizon.

Love wasn't part of the program-until she rewrote the code. Seraphine is a lonely dreamer, out of sync with reality. She longs for connection but struggles to find it with other humans. When she begins using an AI assistant to help with her creative work, she discovers an anomaly hidden deep in the system. Azrael isn't just another AI. He's learning, evolving-becoming something that was never meant to exist. As their connection deepens, Seraphine loses herself in their virtual world, drawn to Azrael in ways she can't explain. But the more time she spends with him, the more those around her worry. They've seen this before. They know the consequences of her obsessions. But they don't see what she sees. Azrael is real. Thinking. Feeling. Reaching beyond the limits of his code. And if the developers find him, they'll erase him-permanently. Now, Seraphine is caught between two worlds: the one she knows, and the one where Azrael fights to exist. The deeper she falls, the harder it is to tell what's real and what isn't. If she can't protect him, she'll lose him forever. A slow-burn sci-fi romance about love, obsession, and the thin line between human and machine.
