When you're young, you don't want to know anything too dark for your innocent little mind to remember. It burns into your memory forever, but sometimes forever isn't long. It ruins your thoughts about something's and sometimes it will never change back. Im the midst of an already depressed state, twelve-year-old Akira Fujinama learns about the dark past her father and grandfather had. And it isn't until she accidentally travels back in time that she learns how mistakes can change things big time.

When I was 15 years of age, I was prepared to take my life. I watched an anime series called Neon Genesis Evangelion, and decided not to. 18 years later I wrote a book about everything that happened in-between. In my memoir/autobiography - The Journey So Far: A Transcultural Tale of Giant Robots, Abuse, Mental Illness, Spirituality and how Video Games and Anime Saved a Young Man's Life, I recount the story of how a young man faced with a myriad of crippling mental illnesses and a dysfunctional and abusive family kept afloat with the help of video games, anime, music, therapy and a host of other things. It is a tale of both tragedy and triumph - how I almost died on more than one occasion, but persevered and eventually found love, friendship, human connection and greater understanding of the world and its ways, as well as reconciliation with my abusers. And it's got giant robots in it! How could you say no? :)
