Soul-less

Souls hold the essence of our being. But what happens if you don't have one? And how is it even possible not to have one? It is easily explained if you imagining the souls are like energy. Like energy no new souls can be created, however they can change their form.
The wander from one human to another. Once a person dies, the souls leaves the body and is cleaned. After this it looks for a new-born to live in until this person eventually dies as well, and so on.
It is an endless cycle that works just fine.
However, when suddenly you have more human beings living on earth than souls, problems occur: Some people are born soul-less.

In the world the story is told in, soul-less people are seen as being less worth than others. They are discriminated and terrorized by the government and society. They have close to no rights at all.

Megan is a normal girl, with a soul. Her life is all right and she is more or less satisfied with it. Of course she knows about the soul-less people, everybody does, they are a normal part of life, therefore she never really thinks about them.
This drastically changes when she meets Jem, a soul-less boy. Suddenly she is sucked into the underground, where soul-less people and people with souls supporting them rebel against the government. Jem shows Megan exactly how little worth a soul-less life is and what he and the Underground are planning to do against it.

~The plot'll evolve more throughout the story, but that's the basic idea of my story. I'd be very happy if you take a look at it and I'm always open for suggestions you make to help me keep this story going. :)
