I moved to peer through the thicket when her arm snaked around mine and she wildly shook her head. "You don't want to-" she whispered and I put my arm on her shoulder reassuringly.

"It will be okay." I whispered back as lowly as possible. Her frantic eyes tried to convey her message but there was no option. I had to see, see if I could help.

Holding my heart in my throat, I turned my head back and peered through the leaves.
