When I was little, I was never healthy for a full day. When I would go to school, I would carry around an oxygen tank so that I could breathe properly. There was once where I had come close to death. At that time, my mother and father promised me that they wouldn't ever leave me. That is, until someone came in an murdered them while I was at school. When I was dropped off from the bus stop, I automatically knew something was wrong because my mother would always wait for me. When she wasn't there, I began to get worried. 'Had she forgotten?' Was the first thing I thought as I walked up the stairs and into my house. 'Mama? Papa?' I questioned walking into their room. As I made the first step in, I heard squishing under my feet as if the carpet was wet.

~getting to know the main character~ Hi Im Alex. I live with my mom, Crystal, in a secluded place far away from any city or town. Why I dont know but mom said it was safer for me to not grow up in that world. We have nothing. no car, no TV, no technology, no way to communicate with the outside. my room is in the attic the second safest place in the house. My mother is always worried so that means I can't leave the house. I think she is afraid someone would find me.

It was cold and dark. I had to find shelter. I saw an abandoned restaurant and thought that that'd be a nice place to wait out the storm at. Little did I know that I wouldn't be allowed to leave. Ever.

I knew somewhere out there, my parents were worried sick. Somewhere out there, my friends wondered about me. I knew that a world like this wouldn't last forever, and I had to make it last. But I could always retell it.
