I looked over at my sister, who was asleep beside me. Her long golden hair was shining in the morning sun, which made me smile a bit. Even if mother and father were gone, I knew that we were going to be alright. I knew that together, nothing was too dangerous or too terrifying. Even if our parents weren't there to greet us, I knew that I had to stay strong for her, and she had to stay strong for me.

How could we have known how wrong we were then? How could I have been so fearless at one time when all I feel now is fear? Everything we'd ever loved was gone, and we had nowhere to turn to. Our parents were dead, and our land was burned to ashes. That night, an enemy clan had raided our home and killed our people, setting everything on fire in the process. That had been the last straw. There was no coming back for me after that. There was nothing I or my sister could say that would make anything better. We were the last left alive of our entire clan, and there was nothing we could do. Nothing we could do but find somewhere else to live and stay alive, which was particularly difficult for me. I didn't care if I lived anymore.

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

Sins and Secrets Book 1: "How do you think all your little Alpha buddies will feel," he hissed, his hot, rancid breath whispering across the back of my neck causing my stomach to sink, "When they discover the dark secret you've been hiding? Do you think they'll respect you still? Do you think that little mate of yours will still want you?" At the thought of Tiberius, my wolf went crazy. My body jerked at the restrained that held me down, the smell of burning flesh filling the room as the silver began to cut into my wrists. "Go to hell." We snapped as my whole body began to go numb. "Oh can't you see, my sweet little bird," he came closer, his lips practically pressed against the skin on my cheek, "You're already there." --------------------------------------------------------------------- My name is Cara Eldoran. I am one of two Alpha's within my pack. Two years ago, I stood frozen to the ground and watched as someone I loved killed my older brother in front of me. There were no screams or tears. My whole body had gone into shock, and I was left to watch the horrors unfold in front of me. But I will lose no one else. Alpha's are going missing. They are being taken from their homes in the middle of the night and are never seen again. Sometimes I wish that being taken was my biggest problem. I vowed revenge for my brother the day he died, and I will stop at nothing to get it. Not even the dark secrets that could destroy me will stop my lust for vengeance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

5 parts Ongoing Mature
How far would you let your revenge lead you? Would you let it turn you clinically insane? Would you let it drag you into uncharted realms and would you let it twist you into a liar to conquer such places? Someone did. To them, it's their story. It's another journey across six countries to find themselves and to discover the truth about their misshaped world. They search dangerous terrain, they take my help and use it for their foolish desires. The main brothers of this story will share how they used to be told stories about mythical figures and power by their Mother. Where in-between the lines of them, she would warn them about turning their backs on suspicious beings though what good is it to look behind when the real danger is instead right in front of you? It was a shame she never got to teach them that. Their story began on the sunniest day of the year, where one was in the middle of the ninth sea and the others were huddled in a small Tavern. The tension was high in that family and little did they know, they were on the edge of something grand. Something grand like meeting a power that a Mother's warning couldn't stop them from entertaining. The Dark age was slowly flowing in then and a plan ticked away like it had been for years waiting for the perfect time to unravel, which ironically struck on the first eclipse of the world. Where the Moon, finally caught the Sun. Their Mother taught me a important lesson. To teach me the right ways of being alive. What is a mortal if not selfish and cruel? What is a mortal if not hated and feared? What is a mortal if not a traitor? Who was she for believing chaos could be tamed by that? They were off to retrieve a stolen crown, to reclaim their lives and pathetic world. Along the way they found love and tears, they found family and together, they found their ruin. I was among them. I watched. I waited. I learnt. I lied. I took time to catch the Sun. My glorious Sun.
My Last Breath (Book one of The Portal Series) by Chinesechickens123
63 parts Complete Mature
BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. The first moment in my life I recall very clearly. I awoke in a dark room, with recollection of everything that happened in the world except for one thing. I had no memory of myself existing, I didn't know where I was or why these men kept me from leaving. Days after I first woke I asked plenty of questions, and yet none of them were answered. The only thing I learned was that I was not allowed outside because the woods heald the most powerful magic on the planet, the most dangerous magic. It was more than just bad men and curiosity about the forest that got me to leave, it was a pull towards something; towards magic. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. I was given life that day, until it all ended months later; the day I took my last breath.

"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?
