Many of us say that we are proud to be an American, but do we even know what that means? Do we understand how blessed we are to live in a country that gives us freedom, and do do we realize that freedom comes with responsibility? I want to share with you what it means to me to be an American Citizen. I want to help you understand how important it is to show some respect for the country and what it stands for. I am not always proud of the decisions that our politicians make, or the way that our fellow citizens act. But I am proud of the freedom, the liberty, and the equality that our great nation represents. I am not always proud of America, but I am, and always will be, proud to be an American.

Optimism in That 'Condition'
This is the story of many who think are alone and are left out. They feel abandoned and some are even despised. Good news; you are neither left out nor abandoned; we are in a different generation, where people have learn to embrace and love ‘us’. You are not alone in the fight; there is a great multitude in front of, at the back and beside you; so take courage. Having gone through this experience, I can testify that the people around me have really been there for me. I feel loved, especially my mum, who is my role model and my greatest inspiration. She has really molded me into being the kind of responsible person I am. I am thankful to her. So I welcome you to my adventure as an optimistic person. I believe that my story might change you and those around you. We all have one life to live and prove ourselves. We just need to step out and step up because the society needs us. Our economy needs us, the community needs us, the government needs us and the world needs us more. So we have no reason to stay in our ‘safe cocoons’. The future of our society is in our hands. It all starts with our optimism in the tough times we are experiencing. I am thankful to all those difficult people in my life; they have really shown me exactly who I do not want to be. Even in this situation, I believe am a responsible person because of them… God bless them so much; and bless you too for reading my story. I welcome you all to my story. Test day. The day we knew was coming and had been dreading the most. Today is the end of what we have known and the beginning of the unknown. We will be tested, graded, and shipped off to where our tests assign us. There is no freedom of choice, no independence, and nothing to look forward to. All of us have been together since the beginning and can remember the good ol' days of playing outside, dressing how we wanted, and being free to be who we were and wanted to be without having to worry about getting shot because of it. What I remember most is going to the library and having the ability to choose whatever book we wanted to and in those days there were too many books to choose from. Those days are long gone. The ruling government now makes all our choices for us. The freedom of everything was taken away along with all of our rights, until today. We are ready to fight back and take control of our country for our generation and those that follow. We may be 14 years old, but we have a mission and that mission is to fight for and regain the freedoms that were lost. Today is the beginning of the unknown.

In the name of making everyone equal and to prevent what happened with our ancestors, we have created what will be known as the Founding Laws. 1. No markings or piercings are permitted. Every citizen will be issued the same clothing with the allowance of one fancy outfit. 2. Every family will have two children: one girl and one boy. The population must remain constant until our world has recovered. 3. Marriage is required for every young person by age 30. There will be no marriages permitted between two citizens more than two years apart in age. 4. Constant pay will be issued for every working citizen. The cost of living will not increase more than 0.3%. 5. At birth, every citizen is required to receive a vaccine. This will prevent disease and early death. Failure to comply will result in death. Why Are You Obsessed with My Race?
I wonder why people feel like they have the right to ask me about my personal life. I don't know how many times a day I am asked, "Who are you? Where are you from? What are you mixed with?" My replies to those people are, "Why do you care where I'm from? It is your business to know what I am mixed with? How dare you overstep your boundaries and violate my space? Society judges my skin color, my hair, and my exotic features. It does not accept me for being who I am. I often hear, "You are too light to be black" or "You are too dark to be white." They size me up with their eyes of hate as if I asked for their opinion. I don't owe you an explanation. I am not on trial because of my background. I didn't choose my race. I did not ask to be here -- but I am here. I am not ashamed of who I am. You asked me, "Who am I?" The real question is, why are you obsessed with my race? Why is it any of your concern? I am Stella. I am 16 years old, and I am proud of who I am! I am biracial, and I am a human being just like you.Complete

These labels do not define us. Those judgments do not blind us of our true self. We know deep down that we are different but some people hide that. Some people think the only way to fit in is to be someone else. Some people want to change for others. Some people think it's best to hide thief true self from those around them. But you are all special. You don't need to change who you are. You are perfect. But sometimes people don't see that. They need help. So I'm here to try to help.
