A Winter Soldier/Reader Alternate Timeline Fan-fic. This is Book 1 for my series The Spring Soldier
Takes place after Captain America: The First Avenger, but before the first Avengers movie.
The reader is a mutant, who has been hiding her abilities since they manifested, she's never told anyone, not even her parents. She was too afraid they would turn on her or register her and she'd be taken away. She's a veterinarian living alone on her farm. Both her parents are dead, having left the farm to her. She lives in a small rural town outside New York City.
One night, she hears gun shots and assumes it's poachers she knows she won't find anything if she goes out during the night and also risks the poachers turning on her, so she waits til morning, to see if she can find the potentially injured animal. She goes into the barn, having followed her cat and finds an unconscious and injured Winter Soldier. Having a soft spot for injured strays, she decides she's going to help him until he wakes.
When he does finally wake, everything changes and her secret is exposed. She never expected her life to go in such a drastic direction, but, now that she's on this path, she's determined to travel it with him.

The Pink Ghost
Gwendolyn Danvers is from a time only two people know about. She's a normal human female with extensive training in combat, thanks to The Avenger's. What happens when she has a run-in with The Winter Soldier and he injects her with the experimental serum Hydra sent him to steal from S.H.I.E.L.D? Fighting to gain control over what the serum turned her into, she flee's in fear of further hurting her team and from the hateful words some of them said to her. After feeling she's in control, she is happy to show the team her new abilities. This lands Peter plummeting into a hole sky scrapers deep, causing Gwen to run again. Steve & a couple of friends scour the Earth to find her only to end up heartbroken when they are told she's headed to a different galaxy. She is focused on mastering herself when she's pulled back to Earth due to a friend being days away from death. This fanfic is an alternate universe. There are nods to the MCU and easter eggs throughout the story, but this story-line is of my own making. The timeline is also jumbled up, there will be things happening before they should have and things that should be happening that won't be. The characters names are property of Marvel, MCU. My main character is inspired by a few different Marvel characters, but is my own. Bucky is NOT the one to kill the Stark's in this fic. This story is rated Mature due to it's eventual sexual content and steamy interactions.Complete

James Buchanan Barnes, Bucky for short, has been struggling with finding his identity and healing without Steve Rogers, six months after they rectified the Blip in what the world now calls The Infinity Wars. He is now working with Sam Wilson on a new case involving the group the Flag Smashers. When Sam invites Bucky to a small gathering for a fish fry when they first reconnect, Bucky gives in despite his frustrations and wanting not to. Sam had three simple rules, one was "Don't flirt with my sister. Any family really is off limits..." But Bucky may have to break that rule, and already betray his new friend. Bucky enjoys the gathering and connects with others. When he meets Nadzia Rex he hits it off with her faster than he thought he would. He even tried to forget her after their first intimate encounter and goes on a date with a waitress when home in Brooklyn. But the two keep in touch and he finds himself constantly returning to De La Croix, Louisiana to do more than check in with Sam Wilson. The question then becomes is this just a fling or something more? This fanfiction will have romance, Bucky Barnes fluff, Sam Wilson Fluff (briefly), found family, healing and acceptance. It is Bucky and an Original character who is purely human. (This takes place during The Falcon and The Winter Soldier after episode two entitled The Star Spangled Man.
