  "Sensei ni Naranai?" is a story revolving on a girl named Naruse Minami and meeting a guy, Komatsuzaki Ren, and later on becoming his English tutor. Minami is a half-Filipino-Japanese who comes to Japan for the first time and she enters Akoyama International to study Japanese. Being alone in a totally new environment, Minami struggles getting along with people and after a few months, gets fired from her part-time job and is isolated in class for being mistaken as a tomboy because she doesn't look or act girly at all. During her miserable days, she encounters Ren who is currently looking for a new teacher to tutor him English and he appoints her. The two begins to discover each other's complicated lives and helps each other learn to accept and enjoy life.
