Natsu always hated Lucy, he hated the fact that they lived in the same town, AND went to the same school. He never understood how so many of is friends talked to Lucy, he could barely remember her name. His whole life he hated Lucy, and he never really knew why. When people would ask him why he hated Lucy, Natsu said it was because she thought she was better that everyone because her family is rich.
Lucy, she was pretty average, according to everyone else. No one knew that Lucy had severe depression and anxiety. She didn't really have an opinion about Natsu, it's not like she was dumb or anything she knew he hated her guts, but Lucy still tried to make friends with Natsu.
Natsu's kicked out of his apartment TWO weeks before school ended, he can't stay with any of his friends because they are all going somewhere for summer vacation. Lucy makes Natsu stay at her house for the summer, because she doesn't like the fact that Natsu would be homeless all summer. Natsu learns things about Lucy no one would ever guess, more things than Lucy was comfortable with.
