After a battle between the Epitome Federation and the Cardinals Confederation, the Cardinals' base town is badly ruined. Their makeshift hospitals, tenements and headquarters barely stay standing among the rubble of the city. The soldier's moral is low, and food and medicine are running out. They need a miracle, something to get them a head start on getting back at the Epitomes. But do they need something, or someone?
After a battle, Callam brings in a girl-Cassie. She's tougher than she looks but scared out of her mind. Tann and her share something, a spark. The calling between a meant-to-be pair rings through their ears, though neither of them wish to hear it.
After some convincing from the council, a reconnaissance and rescue mission is approved. Where brothers Tann and Callam are sent out with Cassie to rescue missing soldiers and end this war once and for all. Will she be the miracle they wanted or their demise?
