You know that one friend that you had and you did everything with. You were so close you practically were like sisters? But then you get into high school and after a few months of being nobodies you finally get into the inner circle with all the beautiful people.

That was three years of my life, in with the crowd and had no worries in life. I felt like a princess, but that was before my parents told my three older brothers and I that they were getting a divorce. Before my boyfriend who happened to be one of the hottest guys at school decided to cheat on me with my so called best friend. And this was all before I became the social outcast

When I was a little girl, I believed in fairy tales. I believed in princes and princesses and knights in shining armor. I believed in forever and happily ever afters. I was ten when reality hit me. My mom brought the evil home with her and there was no escaping it. That's when I learned that fairy tales were just that: fairy tales. The bad stuff is real, though. The difference is that I now know that the monsters and evil villains don't always wear capes and ugly scars. No: most of the time, they appear normal. I'm drowning in reality, in my life, and I've given up hope that a knight in shining armor will rescue me. But maybe... maybe I don't need a Prince Charming after all. Maybe a knight without the shining armor and a broken smile will be enough to save me. *Please note this is only a five chapter sample of the published book.

The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?" I ask, swinging my feel a little. He shakes his head shyly, his mouth not moving at all. Geez! Why do I want to hear this dude talk so much? "Okay, that's fine. I can give you a nickname." I offer happily. He looks up from his book, raising his eyebrows. I just stare for a moment. He has nice eyes. Pretty brown chocolate orbs. They remind me so much of....... "Teddy." He shakes his head immediately, frowning. "What, why not? You remind me of my old teddy bear. He was a good listener and he didn't talk much..... just like you." I say softly, tilting my head. He continues to shake his head. I fold my arms, leaning back in my seat. "Yeah, it's definitely sticking. Teddy.....It has a nice ring to it, yeah?" He sighs, the first sound I have ever heard him make. "No." . . . *Jordan* Teddy!? Seriously!? She gave me a fucking NICKNAME!? What the hell does this girl want!? I stuff my hands into my pockets, walking down the busy street. Forget about her. She's just a annoying pretty girl, she'll go away. Everybody does. She HAS to go away. *Spoiler alert*: she doesn't. Don't get close to people or they'll end up getting hurt. That's my mindset. I've been through enough of that. This girl doesn't belong in my world anyway. She's too innocent. *Mature content* {Just a quick update, I am basically rewriting the story. I wrote it when I was in 8th grade and it makes me cringe every time I try to go back and edit it so keep in mind that it'll get better}

I would bet none of you have ever had that dream summer that all of us want.... that summer where you meet a boy on the beach and go surfing even though you don't know how to surf. That summer where you look him in the eyes while he runs his fingers through your hair. From the second you're in this world they tell you what is fair. What questions your allowed to ask and the ones you can never dare say. I find it damn near funny that most of you are reading this and know exactly what I mean. They put you on the path they've paved for you as kids we don't question it or even wonder if it's right for you. But beyond your paths edges is a land made up of risks and dangers. You feared it they tell you no good will come from it but how do you really know? Truth be told I was the girl who had her whole life planned out for her, straight A's, best friend, and two loving parents. I know what I wanted what I needed and I knew how to fight like hell for it. There's a reason why everyone prefers pretty lies over the bitter truth and it's usually because they can't handle the truth but I think the most likely thing is they can't handle what happens to the person once the truth comes out that's what happened to me. I was happy the way things were and then one day everything blew up in my face. Maybe the happy girl I was would have been happy living a lie for the rest of her life but no matter what the truth always comes out. So I ask you what would you have wanted the bitter truth or the pretty lie?

This is a story of two naive teenagers that find out that it's not as easy being together then it is like in the movies. They find this out with realistic life lessons.
