He held the gun to my forehead. The cool metal made my skin prickle. I tried to act as calm as possible and tried to show him that I wasn't afraid of his menacing toy. But my legs were trembling with fear telling a completely different tale. I looked straight into his eyes without flinching. Both of us were still for a minute. Then he removed the gun from my forehead and smirked.

How could things  go so wrong, when they were just so right? I had run away to get away from all my problems but here I was now, stuck in somebody else's problem. It was hard to believe that the cute boy I'd met on the road had dragged me into this mess. Now, the only way to save myself was to take away his life. I would've done that happily a few days ago, but now, I wasn't so sure.

Caroline had expected her runaway journey to be perfect. But instead, it turned out to be her worst nightmare and she found herself wishing, wishing that it would all be over, that she would be able to get back home safely. But she doesn't even know what safe is anymore after she gets involved in the boy's ugly past. Things get dangerous, especially when she realizes that she's not the only one keeping secrets. 

It all comes down to a very hard choice. Caroline will either have to sacrifice ever going back home OR she will have to sacrifice the life of the boy she had started developing feelings for.
