In the year 5022 monsters were revealed to the world. When this happened, humans quickly began to segregate the two races. Humans were still the majority, which gave them control despite not having any powers. War broke out between the two species, and the monsters eventually surrendered to the overwhelming amount of humans. Three years after the initial revelation, monsters were declared as the lesser species and sold as slaves between humans.
A human organization called Alliance Against Monsters or AAM took monsters to remote locations and experimented on them. They investigated what made monsters powerful and what could be used to kill them.
In the year 5035 a new group called Monster Rights Community, MRC, was established who fought to free all monsters in AAM. Their goal was the integrate monsters into society by not only setting them free, but allowing them to go to school and work alongside humans.. Those who were too old would be have an academy all to themselves, while younger ones could be molded to be more human. As support for MRC grew, the worldwide government had no choice but to agree to the terms and let the AAM monsters go.
Ethan never thought he would be free from AAM, and never even dreamed of going to a human/monster academy. He, and other monsters in his academy, will have to learn human ways while dealing with speciesism. He also has to deal with an eerie demon donning a white mask constantly trying to be close to him. At least he never has to go back to that place, right?
