"Snow is a remarkable thing, really," said Kate. "Every single flake is different. And the falling just blocks everything else out- it's a curtain of peace, falling from the sky as another Christmas gift from God."
Travis laughed a mocking laugh, his head thrown back and away from his sister. "All I see snow as is a larger heating bill."
Kate clenched her fists under the dinner table. "You'll see, Travis," she muttered to herself. "I'll tell you. Or, anyways, Albert will."
It wasn't a challenge. But she accepted it like one.

Told by doctors that she would not live to see fifteen, she has all but given up at thirteen and isolated herself completely. When her brother 'challenges' her, Kate cannot help but rise to meet him, but her time is running out, and there is little she can do.
So she turns to her last and best friend- Albert. Kate knows that she has little time, and so she pours her soul- and, quite possibly, her life- into a final composition.
The video at the end is an original composition written and performed by the author.
