The sounds of the midnight bells reverberated throughout the castle. I hastily descended the crimson stairs, lifting my dress so as not to trip. Waiting for me out front was a horse, a carriage and a young man. His forced smile betraying the tension of the situation at hand.
Leaving the palace is stictly forbidden, let alone at this hour. But I really had no choice.
Suddenly, as if plucked by some unknown fore, I found my body suspended in the air.
- Ah !
The high heels I had barely become accustomed to, slipped off as I tripped forward wildly. I closed my eyes, bracing for impact. But instead, I found myself in the security of a strong pair of arms.
- What is Her Royal Highness droing here at such an hour ?
At the man's words echoed close to my ear, I retraced the events leading up to me sneakink out of the castle.
