This was unusual, I was normally home alone for a few hours before my parents arrived. "That's weird, why is everyone home?" I asked out loud. It was more for me then anyone else. "Aren't you home for a few hours by yourself?" Leslie questioned, her brown eyes staring into mine. "Yeah, I hope nothing bad has happened. Well only one way to find out" I said as I gathered up the courage to walk in. On the inside I was freaking out, my parents would only come home early if there was an emergency. I unlocked the door to hear voices coming from the living room. Dropping my bags I stopped dead in my tracks, one voice sounded very familiar a little too familiar. No it couldn't be him, we moved away years ago. He wouldn't have the nerve to face me after what he did, coward. Slowly dragging my feet I made my way to the living room. What I saw before me turned my face ghost white. My worst nightmare confirmed, there he was, Max, sitting on my couch, in my living room, in my house.

I turned left and kept running as fast as I could, I've never been in this neighbourhood before. I looked around searching for any escape when I spotted an open window, fuck yeah. It was a bit high but I could manage. I climbed one of the trees close enough to the window and got in, It was a dark room, I looked around and almost choke on my own saliva from the shock. A little girl was sleeping peacefully on her small bed... ♡♡︎♡︎ She was the quiet girl, a nobody. He was the opposite a criminal, a well known one...He saw her just once and couldn't get her out of his mind.

I could hear screaming and crying all around me. I felt soaking wet and hot at the same time, which I didn't think was possible and I could feel someone gently shaking me. "Uggggnnnnnmmm," I groaned. "She's alive! Come on kid, wake up," another man exclaimed. "Nooooooooooo," I groaned again. I felt so tired, I just wanted to go back to sleep, but whoever was shaking me wouldn't stop. My eyes slowly opened, squinting at the bright lights that were shining all around me. Two men were hovering over me and they weren't who I thought they would be.

Everyone talks to themselves on occasion, right? Sure, that's normal. The problem arises when another voice...not your own...begins telling you what to do. Or is the issue that you start listening to it? Does your child have an imaginary friend? Or is there something more sinister there? *I don't usually classify my stories as "mature", but this one does include some darker subject matter than I generally deal with. *I have finished this first draft and begun the edits. This story is an attempt for me to write outside of my comfort zone and, so far, it has been quite a bit of fun. I hope that everyone enjoys it. All I've ever known is fear, and a strange dream...a reoccurring nightmare, where someone is hunting me, chasing me, never gaining or receding, in a strange place where everything is bathed in an orange hue. I live in a grey world where everyone is the same....if anyone finds out I'm not 'normal', it will mean a trip to the 'mind doctor, who I fear more than the nightmares. I could lose what little independence I have...it's all I own, all I am. Until one day, the dream finds me... I wake from the latest nightmare, and find a note warning of danger, and that 'they' are coming. When I wake and hear someone speaking - that I can't see, but can feel...who tells me that I am not who I think I am....I have nowhere to run... Should I listen? Wait?
