All I've ever known is fear, and a strange dream...a reoccurring nightmare, where someone is hunting me, chasing me, never gaining or receding, in a strange place where everything is bathed in an orange hue. I live in a grey world where everyone is the same....if anyone finds out I'm not 'normal', it will mean a trip to the 'mind doctor, who I fear more than the nightmares. I could lose what little independence I have...it's all I own, all I am. Until one day, the dream finds me... I wake from the latest nightmare, and find a note warning of danger, and that 'they' are coming. When I wake and hear someone speaking - that I can't see, but can feel...who tells me that I am not who I think I am....I have nowhere to run... Should I listen? Wait? Or submit to the Mind Doctor again? What would you do? Comments invited. This is my first Wattpad published story. Is it good? Is it bad? Could I do better? Please comment and vote if you liked it. Everyone talks to themselves on occasion, right? Sure, that's normal. The problem arises when another voice...not your own...begins telling you what to do. Or is the issue that you start listening to it? Does your child have an imaginary friend? Or is there something more sinister there? *I don't usually classify my stories as "mature", but this one does include some darker subject matter than I generally deal with. *I have finished this first draft and begun the edits. This story is an attempt for me to write outside of my comfort zone and, so far, it has been quite a bit of fun. I hope that everyone enjoys it.
