No one was really prepared. I mean, a zombie apocalypse just started. Of course no one was prepared. Honestly, it feels like a video game has just become reality. My sister and I are gamers so we're cocky, and we always talked about what would happen if these games came true. Well... It just so happens that our favorite video game, which happens to be a zombie one, just became real. Enough of explaining everything that happened before, I'm gonna explain everything that's happening right now.

Obviously, when a flesh-eating parasitical virus was found, scientists in all their glory decided to study it, which led to the greatest calamity in human history. Warning: This is the original book 1, it is now considered more of a prelude/building character relationships arc than a book. This provides backstory and sets the foundation for the characters and their relationships. Her back flashed with sharp pain. Her eyes pricked with fear as she drank in his uncovered face. Deeply tanned skin. Ruby red eyes-ruby red eyes? Thick, slashing eyebrows. Flat, broad nose. Buzzcut. Handsome. That was as far as she would go in complimenting him considering this guy held a knife to her throat. When he spoke, his voice came out like thunder.
