The Phase Trials are held annually during the Winter Solstice, a major holiday in the Lycan world. It's a week long event that begins with young unmated wolves attending the opening dinner. Throughout the week the wolves are out through a set of trials that challenge them both physically and mentally. Their tests are open to everyone allowing all their strengths and weaknesses to be seen by everyone. This open viewing is done so that other wolves can find traits in others that they desire. On the eve of winter the snow ball is held and that's when the young wolves are allowed to approach their choices. Finally on the night of the winter solstice the wolves will run together and the ones who are chosen will be marked.
Sage White was of the very few people who hoped that they wouldn't be going home mated. She had no desire to be tied to someone for the rest of her life! But oh how fate works in funny ways. What will she do when she finds herself marked by a man who can not be defied?
