Thirteen-year-old Quill Kipps was an average agent, with a team, a rapier, and a decent life; that is, for a kid that might die any minute. That all changed when a fellow agent died in front of him. With only his agent's status to his name, he finds help in a rather unlikely place and with an unusual man who goes by the name of Gravedigger Sykes.
However, help is not the only thing he finds at Gravedigger Sykes' training ground; a girl named Jessica Lockwood is there, too. And for once in his life, Quill is not as alone as he thinks.
