Lucius, the less favored twin brother of Prophet Julian, was forced into marrying the Vampire Crown Prince Dorian under his brother's name as part of a truce and subsequently fell in love with his enigmatic husband. After helping Dorian claim the throne and become the first human Royal Consort of the vampire kingdom Eternia, Lucius thought he finally had found his perfect fairytale happy ending.
However, his happy-ever-after only lasted several months.
After Lucius's treacherous secret mission was exposed, the Royal Consort fell from grace, lost his husband's love and respect, and was imprisoned in the Northern Tower for a year. Everyone in the court was speculating when King Dorian would divorce Lucius and execute him.
And just when Lucius thought things couldn't have gone worse than this, fate mocked him once more.
One day, Lucius woke up and found himself branded as a human slave and trapped in the worst situation. Once lost all his privileges, he witnessed the true horror and cruelty of a world in which humans were dominated and used as livestock.
With the help of a friend, Lucius managed to avoid more severe violations and eventually escaped from Eternia and headed home, however, as someone who was "defiled" by the vampires, he found no welcome, consolation, or even safety back home, either.
Would he ever see Dorian again? Would Dorian ever forgive him for his betrayal? And would love find a way in all the hatred, pain and blood of another looming war between humanity and vampires?
