Shinichi Izumi, best friend to Yuji Shokobu. Both have been best friends since kindergarden, and haven't seen each other since freshmen year of highschool, so they never were connected. But one day, a mysterious virus spreads, similar to the parasytes that invaded the brain, but now it's an entirely different walk in the park, Yuji finds a parasyte that hasn't been infected yet, but since the virus only spreads through human infected parasites, and hostless parasytes, the parasyte invades Yuji's left hand.
Cleverly named Hidari, Yuji makes a friend that vows to protect him and discover what's behind this virus infecting both humans and parasites alike.

I've always fallen for older guys and liked the friends-to-lovers tropes, so this will hit both of those. I've tried to include little Easter eggs and nods to Inuyasha and Yashahime. Complete but still likely contains a few errors here and there. Fan fiction disclaimer: I do not own this series. I love Rumiko Takahashi's world and wanted to add to it. Hanahaki is a disease where the affected coughs up the favorite flowers of the one they love, left untreated it can kill in a matter of weeks, you can get a surgery to remove the root, however you will forget everything about your loved one, or never feel love again. More commonly people let it kill them, but this can be avoided by confessing, however if you get rejected, the condition will progress faster and surgery will no longer be an option. The cough will start with a few petals, then progress to the entire flower head, after that a bit of blood, and finally, the entire flower with the stem and blood. If it gets to that point, you likely have days to live. The condition progresses faster or slower depending on how long the love has existed and how strong it is. Some of the warning signs for the disease are high unexplainable fevers along with harsh coughing fits and trouble breathing, these symptoms only occur for the worst cases however, so not everyone will have warning signs. "Great" Asahi sighed with his head in his hands. "Just what I needed." When Asahi gets sick and doesn't recover it's up to him and a few others to figure out what to do before it's too late, only, he has a secret he doesn't want them to know. Hikari has always been friends with Senku, Taiju and Yuzuriha. It's always been the four of them. While Taiju loved Yuzuriha and Yuzuriha loved Taiju, Hikari found herself falling head over heels in love with Senku. And she told blurted it out one time when they were real young that she wanted to stay by his side because she loved him. But it's been so long, she thought he'd forgotten, something illogical as that, wasn't something Senku paid attention to, but he paid attention to her. She was the only one he truly let into his heart aside from science. When the beam of light covers the sky, Hikari gets scared and looks to the only person that makes sense, Senku. She grabs tightly onto him and the two of them are turned to stone together. 3,700 years later, in the year 5738, a minute after Senku wakes up, while in the middle of getting his bearings, Hikari wakes up, begins crying, hugging him, like she had been doing before they were turned to stone.
