When Sunflowah's Bloom

What's a "Sunflowah?"

A Sunflowah is a black woman. The flowah of the black woman rather. The Sun in "Sunflowah" represents the melanin we withhold. Our melanin was sunbaked just for us and that's what makes us so unique.

The "Flowah" is our hair and body. As sistah's we must understand our bodies are our temples, and our hair (Flowah's) is our crown. And we should love every inch of ourselves!

In these series of short stories, the women you're going to read about will be faced with similar struggles we've probably all witnessed as black women. "Cultural appreciation, Consciousness, "You're pretty for a dark girl, and self love will be conveyed in each story. Each woman will have a tough beginning but will shortly "bloom" as they run into sorts of lessons and understand self love.

The first story is about Kyla(She prefers to go by Kylee). Kyla was given up for adoption by her mother who was a black woman, and 13 at the time of giving birth to her. Kyla is adopted by a white family and learns the norms and culture of this family. As she continues to grow up, she continues a bitterness toward her birth mother and the black community as a whole.

Finally her birth mother is able to get in touch and invited Kyla to a Mother's Day dinner at her home. Kyla's adoptive mom thinks it's a great idea and Kyla proceeds to take upon the invite. While visiting she isn't her nicest and is "awaken" by her sibling.
