The loneliness came gradually. I looked out towards the distant horizon, that beckoning, tempting horizon. It taunted me. It called to me. Never had I wished more for a pair of wings, and I knew that if I had wings I'd fly away and never look back. The city, school, the people I knew, they held nothing for me anymore.
